Our DB Crew
Breck
Co-Founder
C.E.O. and Brewmaster
FAVORITE DB BREW: San Andreas Cherry Saison
Breck is the fearless leader of Disaster Brewing, doing the science of beer making and generously sharing with everyone (seriously, who does that when the beer is THIS good?). He lives up to our motto, “blunders and beer,” seeing the silver lining in all brewing missteps and learning to make better brews along the way. When he’s not making beer, you can find him in the classroom teaching elementary school kiddos, in the kitchen whipping up a batch of ice cream or his legendary pizza, or making up songs about dogs who like to eat sausages. Each year, Breck finds more and more goodies to grow in the DB Biergarten, including hops (which he hopes to eventually use in DB brews), 15…no, 16 tomato plants and pea pods.
Andrew
Co-founder
director of product development
FAVORITE DB BREW: Angry Abby’s Aggressive Amber Ale
Andrew is a PNW native who describes himself as a real student of the game, and a guy with an Eastern European name. As a product developer, he frequently creates new names and taglines for DB beers. If you have an alliterative attitude, Andrew will love you for it. If you believe his story, the brewery name spoke to him on a spirit quest while drinking a beer. Andrew loves his doggos Koda and Millie, and spends a surprising amount of time asking them how they got so low to the ground. He is pleased to be a part of the Disaster Brewing family, and considers his friendship with Breck in the “top 5 things I have going for me.” Andrew encourages you to enjoy Disaster Brewing responsibly- never drink and drive.
Lauren
C.O.O. and Multimedia Manager
FAVORITE DB BREW: San Andreas Cherry Saison
Promoted from quality assurance specialist, Lauren now focuses on DB’s online presence and multimedia content. Lauren joined this disastrously delicious operation in 2013, gifting Breck his first brew kit (which took him only two years to open). She’s surprisingly vicious when it comes to power tools, including edgers, trimmers and leaf blowers. Lauren enjoys traveling, baking with spent grain, and hosting folks in the Disaster Brewing Biergarten. While her favorite holiday is Halloween, she’s a master at decorating for any obscure reason (seriously- just give her a reason to host a party). You’ll see her handiwork at DB’s events, including our annual Oktoberfest in OC. People often comment on Lauren’s “old-timey” language, but that’s just fiddle-faddle.
Barley
Lead Brewing Assistant; manager, Brew pup apprentice program
FAVORITE DB BREW: Whatever spills on the brew shed floor
Barley joined the family in August 2020. On occasion, Barley has been caught napping in the brew shed. He also doesn’t have thumbs, which makes it pretty challenging to actually help with any of the brewing. His favorite part of the brewery is the DB biergarten (but watch your step) as well as the snacks. Honestly, he should be on a performance plan. Somehow, he was still promoted to manager of the brew pup apprentice program…nepotism. Barley joins us from New Mexico, thanks to the nonprofit organization Dog Is My Co-Pilot as well as One Tail at a Time PDX.
Gose
Brew pup apprentice; Biergarten greeter
FAVORITE DB BREW: Any brews after her namesake
Gose is the newest member to the brewing operation, joining the family in November 2022. Gose is apprenticing under her (smaller) big brother, Barley. She has a lot to learn but makes up for it in enthusiasm and treat-motivated tricks. Her name is in homage to the German-style beer, but with none of the sourness. Gose has never met a person or dog whom she doesn’t like, which makes her well-suited to start our biergarten greeting division. Say hi the next time you stop by for a beer, and we promise you’ll have a new best friend for life. Gose joins us from Texas, thanks to One Tail at a Time PDX.
Jacqueline
Digital Marketing Manager
Disaster Brewing Regional Rep, Seattle
FAVORITE DB BREW: Disastro Flagship IPA
Jacqueline is the fur parent of Astro, the namesake for DB’s Disastro Flagship IPA. She’s the brains and brawn behind Disaster Brewing’s digital marketing efforts, thanks to her time working for companies like Marchex, Yesler and Portant. Jacqueline is passionate about sustainable fashion, creating data visualization for all items in her wardrobe, based on year purchased, material and country of creation. In the last few years, she’s become a sewing wiz, creating beautiful dresses, skirts and holiday pennant banners with recycled materials. She is DB’s first regional representative for Seattle and is known to give out Disastro Flagship IPA as payment for kitty-sitting Astro.
Maya
Branding Consultant,
Bourgeois Creative
FAVORITE DB BREW: Angry Abby’s Aggressive Amber Ale
Maya is an artist and activist that can be found in the studio, on the court, at the social justice march, and sometimes procrasti-baking in the kitchen. She’s a coffee shop, vegan food, rom-com connoisseur with a wicked 12-foot jumpshot and a weakness for Sour Patch Watermelon. Maya specializes in graphic/digital design, branding, marketing, project management and event production.
Caleb
Branding Consultant,
Bourgeois Creative
FAVORITE DB BREW: Side Piece Wheat
Caleb is an Alaskan adventurist / artist / administrator who loves motorcycles, jeeps, dogs, beer, and vegan pizza. He has over twenty five years of experience in the arts and over a decade in arts and nonprofit administration. Caleb specializes in theatrical and event production, photography and retouching, and nonprofit campaign/organizational strategy.
