Disaster Brewing’s Oktoberfest in OC has included competition since 2019. This originally began with steinholding, including two divisions to allow for a range of upper body strength among guests. Disaster Brewing follows the rules set by the US Steinholding Association. Since 2023, in addition to bragging rights and inclusion in the hall of fame, the steinholding champion in each division also now receives a hand-forged bottle opener, which may be worn like an Olympic medal. In 2024, Disaster Brewing is also piloting hammerschlagen with one-handed and two-handed divisions.
